PGCDC 6TH ANNUAL EMPOWERING FUTURE KEADERS SCHOLARSHIP BREAKFAST 2017

Press Release: The Prince George's County Drug Policy Coalition, Inc. is pleased to announce the 6th Annual Empowering Future Leaders Scholarship Breakfast for the 2017 academic year on June 21, 2017 from 9am to 11am at the Harborside Hotel, 6400 Oxon Hill Road, Oxon Hill, MD 20745.

The Prince George's County Drug Policy Coalition, Inc. will be awarding 30 scholarships to students in the Prince George's County, Maryland District 8 area. The students who received  these scholarships had to reside in Prince George's County, Maryland District 8 (Camp Springs, Clinton, Forest Heights, Fort Washington, Glassmanor, Marlow Heights, Oxon Hill), provide an official transcript, write a one page essay and provide other documentation as listed on the application, etc. Over the past five years The Prince George's County Drug Policy Coalition, Inc. has given over $100,000.00 in scholarships to students, making a tremendous difference in the lives of the youth in Prince George’s County.

“We are proud to recognize students who have excelled academically and who understand the importance of serving their community.  Many are mentors, serve in their church ministries, or youth missions, or are bilingual.  All of these activities keep them focused on living a healthy and drug free life,” said Dr. Valencia Campbell, Coalition President.

Every year we have VIP’s, politicians, community leaders, federal and local government elected officials etc who come out to celebrate with us. This year we will have Words of Encouragement by Calvin J. Hadley, M.P.A. Strategic Initiative Advisor, Howard University’s Office of the President and Student Ombudsman. Mistress of Ceremony will be Ms. Ebony N. McMorris National News Correspondent for Reach Media, Radio One. Come out to celebrate with us in honoring these hard working students. This event is free to attend and accepting donations. Seating is also limited so please call to RSVP!

The Prince George's County Drug Policy Coalition, Inc. is a nonprofit organization that promotes policies and laws that embrace the public health nature of drug abuse. Through our scholarship program, we provide community-based support to families within the county with a focus on students obtaining higher education and living a drug free life.

The Prince George's County Drug Policy Coalition, Inc. represents one of many local affiliates of the National African American Drug Policy Coalition, Inc. Our national organization consists of a coalition of 25 preeminent organizations.
